So I decided to do it. Everyone we know has been asking if we’re going to have a blog they can follow while we are on our adventure. I was hesitant (and still am) because I’m unsure if we have the will or commitment level to follow through for a year. But, I’m going to try. All of us will provide content. We’re working this into part of the girls schooling while on the road. I’m not sure I’ll be able to convince Mark to contribute but any of the good photos we post are sure to be his.
I’m feel like I should write this as though everyone reading it already knows us (the purpose of this is to keep them updated). So, if you’re a stranger stumbling on to us I apologize for the confusion you may feel. Feel free to contact me to ask questions if you wish.
We have been planning/saving for this trip for over 5 years, with the last year being a little overwhelming (I might go over the steps we took in a later post). But for now, our first flight is booked (take off is August 18th). We begin our adventure in London. It’s Grace’s job (our youngest) to research the city, plan a few places to visit and try to get us there. Molly will do the same in Paris.
I’ve been keeping track of different flight options using Skyscanner, Hopper (app), Kayak and Expedia. They usually all come up with fairly similar results. If the price is within a few dollars I usually use Expedia (I’m comfortable with their platform and I can collect points to use later).
Neve (our oldest) is starting college in the fall and will only be able to join us for a small part of our trip (we’ll take what we can get). Hopefully she can join us again when her year is completed.
